The Prunus mume tree originated in China and Korea but is most often referred to as Japanese Apricot in the west. These small elegant trees have been cultivated for more than 1500 years and are highly prized in Asia for their beautiful blossoms and fragrant fruits. The fruits from the Prunus Mume tree are harvested to make pickled delicacies or fermented into fragrant liqueurs. The pale rose colored blossoms have a lovely fragrance and appear in late February or March. These Ume tree blossoms have been the subject of many of Asia's master painters. Whether planting as an ornamental or for culinary use, Mume Japanese Apricot trees for sale will be an added treasure to any landscape garden.
