American Magnolia Trees
The American Magnolia tree is an ancient tree that existed in North America 95 million years ago to the present. It is revered for its glossy evergreen leaves, pyramidal shape, and lovely white, fragrant flowers. The Magnolia grandiflora is the state tree for Mississippi and Louisiana. There are many species of magnolia. The two primary groups are evergreen magnolia trees such as the American magnolia, and the deciduous magnolias, such as Japanese Magnolias. The American magnolias are evergreen. Willis Orchard Company offers four varieties of Magnolia grandiflora, including the Southern Magnolia and the Dwarf Magnolia variety called 'Little Gem.' Both the Southern Magnolia and Dwarf Magnolia varieties for sale vary in size and shape; however, their flowers are very similar, featuring large, fragrant white blossoms in summer. We also offer the Magnolia virgiana (Sweetbay Magnolia) which also has a fragrant white bloom but the tree and flower are smaller than grandiflora. The Sweetbay Magnolia would be an excellent selection to add beauty or shade around your pond. Willis Orchard Company can supply you with any size or quantity of American magnolia tree you request.
